Tisdale has captured the Provincial "C" Mosquito Championship by winning the Provincial Finals Tournament, held in Sedley over the weekend.
The Mosquitos' backs were against the wall early in the tournament, as they were beaten 5-3 by Sedley in their first game. In order to win the provincial title, they would have to overcome their nervousness and go undefeated for the rest of the competition. Fortunately, that's exactly what they did.
The Mosquito League All-Stars rebounded to down Milestone 12-8, and squeak past Sedley 8-7 in their second clash of the day with the host team. Sherman Martinson was the hero for Tisdale, as he struck out the last batter in the bottom of the seventh inning with two out and the bases loaded to earn the save.
The final game against Langenburg was almost anticlimactic, as the Tisdale squad jumped all over their opponents' pitching to post a 19-5 victory to win the provincial title. Michael Molnar lead the way for Tisdale by slamming a three run homer in the triumph. In fact, all nine batters In the lineup had great outings at the plate in this game.
The victory made coaches Rolly Zimmer, Rich Selch, Myron Martinson and manager Don Dobson four of the proudest men in town. Congratulations to the Mosquitos for a job well done.
