TISDALE — An unoccupied house on 106th Avenue in Tisdale was destroyed by a structure fire in the early morning on June 10.

Tisdale Fire responded to the call at 12:10 a.m.

“The fire had already spread across through the attic and across the roof by the time we got there, so it made it dangerous to be inside,” said Brian Minhinnick, Tisdale’s fire chief.

Crews utilized a defensive attack to stop the fire from spreading, spraying the structure from outside with foam and water.

“When we first started the defensive it was to stop the spread, and then put the fire out because it spread so fast, by the time we got there we knew the house was probably going to be a total loss.”

After the main section of the fire was out, crews examined the structure with thermal imaging to eliminate any remaining hot spots.

Crews remained on scene for about four hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

There are no more injuries reported.

Minhinnick said the house was unoccupied for quite some time.

“Half of the roof is burned right off, and the other half is ready to collapse in.”

Tisdale RCMP is asking the public for any information connected to the fire. The Tisdale RCMP can be reached at 306-878-3810. Crime Stoppers can be reached at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
