Reaction is swiftly pouring in to the finished TV profile of North Battleford that is now airing on the TV series Today in America with Terry Bradshaw.

The video, which cost $25,000 to make, is completed and has been posted at YouTube, where over 5,000 people had viewed the story as of Wednesday morning.

It will also be shown on television on cable channels such as BNN in Canada and Fox Business in the United States, as well as regional channels such as WRNN in New York state.

The approximately five-minute piece features Bradshaw doing the voiceover extolling the virtues of the Battlefords as a place to live and work, citing a business-friendly environment and an affordable cost of living.

Local recreation facilities and galleries, including the CUPlex, are featured in the piece, which includes several interviews including Mayor Ian Hamilton of North Battleford as well as City Director Of Business Development Denis Lavertu.

The piece was shot last July when a videographer spent two days in the Battlefords touring the area.

So far, City officials say the piece has drawn a favourable reaction.

"The City of North Battleford is receiving positive reaction to a YouTube video featuring the city and surrounding area on a program called 'Today in America'," a news release read Tuesday.

Less flattering, though, were some comments posted underneath the video at YouTube by Tuesday afternoon, many of which suggested the piece glossed over a few aspects of life in the community.

"They forgot to mention the crime rate," was one comment. Another stated "they forgot to mention the great gang lifestyle and all the crime that goes with it."

"This should be labelled comedy because they left some sh*t out," was another reaction.

One of the commenters, however, took the others to task for their negativity by saying "you guys are most likely the problem, take a little pride in where you live, the shots in this video are awesome."
