The community of Blaine Lake is beginning to take shape as residents prepare for the town's and municipality's centennial celebrations this weekend.

Not only are the hanging and stationary baskets overflowing with beautiful colourful petunias but town council had also approved the purchase and installation of new street signs.

"Council felt this was a great time to replace and reinstall new posts, street signs and upgrade the yield and stop signs," commented Councillor Keith Woytiuk.

The street signs are of aluminium construction, consisting of silver reflective letters and numbers on a black background. Over 90 street signs have been replaced within the community to current date.

"We are very proud of the finished product supplied by CAL Signs and Designs and of our town crew for their hard work in re-installing the posts and signs," explained Woytiuk. "Ron and Jason have been very diligent in completing this project as well as many other projects required to prepare for the weekend festivities."

The signs were fastened onto the two and a quarter inch pipe which was then placed into the ground. All the poles and street signs were replaced, creating a consistent look on the street corners. One will also be quick to recognize that the signs have been installed on the same side on each corner and set on the inside of the sidewalk.

"This adds to the continuity of the project," commented Woytiuk, explaining it will provide a more consistent, unified look throughout the community. Some of the traffic regulation signs such as the stop and yield signs were also replaced.
