Trial wraps up for couple facing drug trafficking, weapons charges

LA RONGE – A trial for two people arrested after La Ronge RCMP General Investigation Section raided a trap line has wrapped up and a judge is expected to hand down a decision in La Ronge Provincial Court on Feb. 27, 2023.

Lac La Ronge Indian Band residents Mary Johnson, 29, and Floyd Ratt, 34, were arrested in August 2021.

When police searched a camper on Molansoa Road south of La Ronge, they found three firearms, ammunition, 30 grams of cocaine, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Ratt was charged with 21 firearms-related offences, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property less than $5,000 obtained by crime, and four counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Johnson was charged with 12 firearms-related offences, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property less than $5,000 obtained by crime, and three counts of failing to comply with a release order.
