Dr. Miles Johnson of Turtleford was named to the council of the Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association at a recent annual general meeting of the association in Regina.
Dr. Johnson is a practice owner and mixed animal practitioner.
Also named to the board is Dr. Debbie Hupka-Butz, a mixed animal practitioner and owner from Earl Grey. Dr. Andrew Acton, a mixed animal practitioner and owner from Ogema, assumes the role of president and Dr. Cheryl Bellamy, a companion animal owner/practitioner from Moose Jaw, is vice-president.
Drs. Johnson and Hupka-Butz join council members Drs. Tanya Marshall of Lumsden, Chris Clark of Saskatoon, Andrea Ulmer of Regina and Mr. Brian Braun, public member.
The highest honour awarded to a veterinarian, the JJ Murison Distinguished Veterinarian Award, was earned by Dr. Bob Bellamy, a companion animal practitioner from Moose Jaw for his service to the association, the profession and the public Dr. Bellamy has been an active member of both the national and provincial professional associations since 1976 and has mentored many veterinary students and new graduates, according to an association press release.
