Two running for NDP nod in Melfort

The New Democrats have two people running to become the candidate for the Melfort constituency.

The New Democrats have two people running to become the candidate for the Melfort constituency.  

Betty Nippi-Albright from the Kinistin Saulteaux Nation worked in the health sector for 20 years before returning to University in 2012 for a masters degree. She now works in public administration and strategic partnership development.

Lorne Schroeder is a farmer from LeRoy who’s on the board of directors for the Farmer Direct Co-op. He has been reeve for the RM of LeRoy, chair of the LeRoy School Board, and involved with the Kinsmen.

The nomination meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Kerry Vickar Centre. Leadership candidates Ryan Meili and Trent Wotherspoon will be guest speakers.

The date for the byelection has not been set.
