The fundraising campaign for the Credit Union CUPlex received another boost last week with a $50,000 donation.
The donation comes from Bill and Eunice Wilson, who are sponsoring the whirlpool in the Battlefords Co-op Aquatic Centre.
The contribution brings the CUPlex "Raise the Roof" campaign to $9,610,000, just $390,000 shy of the $10 million goal the fundraising committee has set.
"North Battleford needs and deserves this new venue," said Bill Wilson in a statement released last week. "Nothing is ever perfect and some might have wished that certain areas could have been larger. However, to do this would have required a much greater financial commitment than the City, and the people of the area, were prepared for."
Wilson also applauded "those with a vision who have devoted so many hours to bringing this project to reality. It will benefit the whole community. We are happy to join those who support this initiative. We have all heard the phrase 'it takes a community to raise a child' and we encourage others to take this opportunity to give back to the place that has nurtured us all."
