Saskatchewan Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week is a celebration to honour approximately 3,000 EMS providers province wide who deliver life saving care every day.

The 2011 EMS Week theme, "Everyday Heroes" speaks to the public about the importance of EMS in communities. Each day EMS personnel play a vital role in lifesaving. They bring hope to real life emergencies. EMS practitioners are a community's resource to emergency medical needs and a link for injury prevention.

WPD Ambulance has organized a variety of events week to enhance community awareness and understanding of the role of Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

Wednesday, there will be school presentations and poster making contests at various elementary schools. Visits will be made to senior complexes for coffee and dessert, as well as education, by WPD Ambulance staff.

Thursday will see more chool presentations and poster making contests at various elementary schools. A mock car accident will be staged at Frontier Mall parking lot that beginning at 7 p.m.

The week wraps up with a beef on a bun lunch at the WPD Ambulance building withAll proceeds donated to the Credit Union CUPlex building fund.
