The Battlefords Midget Stars have dropped five of their last six games, with the most recent losses coming at the hands of the Notre Dame Argos.

Saturday, the Stars surrendered six first period goals and couldn't get on track suffering a 14-4 loss.

Jesse Gerbig was the first to get the Stars on the board at 13:40 of the second period. Gerbig's sixth of the season was assisted by Jeff Olson.

Notre Dame responded with four more goals in the second to lead 10-1 after two periods.

The third period was just a formality, but the Stars did score three times. Ryne Keller's third of the season was assisted by Zackary Klebaum. Colby Cave's fourth of the season was assisted by Olson and Blake Young's third of the season, late in the third period, was assisted by Regan Yew and Klebaum.

The Stars used a goaltending tandem of Regan Santoro and Blair Mahon in the Saturday night game.

Sunday, Mahon was in net for the entire game and was named the Stars' player of the game after facing 36 shots, despite the 6-3 loss.

The Argos took a 1-0 lead on a shorthanded goal in the first and that was how the teams would go into the first intermission.

In the second the Stars started strong scoring 44 seconds and 1:37 in to take the lead. Cody Thiel scored from Justin Lund and Cave. Dillion Forbes scored from Olson. It was the third goal of the season for both defenceman, Thiel and Forbes.

Notre Dame answered back with a goal two minutes later, but the Stars reclaimed the lead with a Justin Lund goal shortly after. Lund's sixth of the season was assisted by Klebaum.

The Argos went on the attack after that and ended the second period with two powerplay goals. After 40 minutes the score was 4-3 for the Argos.

An even strength marker and a shorthanded goal into the empty net sealed the 6-3 win for Notre Dame and improved their record to 10-5-2-0.

The Stars will be back in action Wednesday against the Saskatoon Blazers who carry a 2-10-3-2 record into the Battlefords. The Stars are 5-12-1-0.
