The Humboldt Hammerheads are back-to-back team champions after the club finished first place in the Rosetown Royal Speed Swim Team 2018 Swim Meet in Rosetown on June 23.

The Hammerheads sent 19 swimmers to the meet, where they came home with 47 firsts, 16 seconds, and 11 thirds in individual races.

The Hammerheads’ 19 swimmers were part of 79 swimmers in total from seven different clubs including Humboldt, Saskatoon, Watrous, Shellbrook, Nipawin, Rosetown, and Biggar.

After the first meet saw swimmers compete in short distance events, the meet in Rosetown, which featured significantly fewer swimmers, was opened up  with swimmers able to compete in 25m, 50m, 100m, and 200m races.

While the Hammerheads were busy picking up top three finishes in individual races, their swimmers were also busy setting new personal best times, with the club setting at least 30 new personal best times, including Darren Romanuik, who broke the 13-14 boys 25m breaststroke provincial record.

With the club enjoying a number of top three finishes in individual races, the Hammerheads were able to use those finishes to collect a number of individual points medals as well, with eight gold, two silver, and one bronze.

The Hammerheads will enjoy a week off to enjoy the Canada Day long weekend, before hopping back in the pool on July 7 for the first of back-to-back meets.

The July 7 meet, will see the Hammerheads travel to Melfort for the Melfort Marlins Summer Swim Team 2018 Invitational Swim Meet, before heading to Nipawin on July 8 for the Nipawin Lions Swim Meet.
