The Humboldt Collegiate Mohawks are 2A boys soccer provincial champions thanks to a perfect 3-0 record at the provincial championships in Yorkton on Oct. 27-28.

Heading into the tournament the Mohawks were the tournament’s fourth seed, and were matched up with Regina Luther in the quarterfinals.

Despite facing a Regina Luther team who finished fourth at provincials last year, the Mohawks were unfazed, as they played a solid two-way game en route to a comfortable 4-0 win.

The win moved the Mohawks into the semi-finals where they were matched up with the hosts, defending provincial champions, and tournament’s top seed from Sacred Heart.

Much like their quarterfinal, the Mohawks were unfazed by the significant uphill battle facing them and managed to pull out a 5-2 win, which moved the Mohawks into the provincial final against John Paul II from North Battleford.

The Mohawks managed to put together one more terrific effort in the final, and knocked off the tournament’s third seed 4-0 to capture the provincial title, their first provincial medal since winning bronze in 2013 and their first gold medal in soccer in the history of the school.

The provincial title capped off a solid season from the Mohawks, which saw them win the district title, regional title, and provincial title, finishing with a record of 11-2 on the season.
