The Humboldt Collegiate Mohawks boys volleyball team are provincials bound after winning the conference championship on their home floor on Nov. 18.
The Mohawks rolled through the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record.
The tournament got off to a steady start for the Mohawks as they knocked off Unity two sets to one in their opening round robin match.
In their second and final match of the round robin the Mohawks took on Biggar.
Heading into the match the Mohawks and Biggar both sported a 1-0 record, meaning the winner of the match would earn the top seed in Pool A.
The Mohawks came out hitting in the match and rolled to a two sets to none victory securing top spot in Pool A, and moving into the semi-finals where they took on the second seed from Pool B, Saskatoon Christian.
The hometown side used the home court to their advantage in the semi-final as they rolled past Saskatoon Christian two sets to none to move into the championship final.
In the final match the Mohawks took on La Loche.
The two teams came into the final in an identical position as they both sported 3-0 records, with both teams winning six sets, and losing just one.
The final was a tightly contested affair between two evenly matched teams as they split the first two sets.
The Mohawks finally took control of the match in the final sets, winning the set and the match.
The two sets to one victory gave the Mohawks the regional title, and moved them into the provincial championships.
The boys in yellow and blue will not have far to go for the provincial championships as they will play host to the tournament Nov. 24-25.
The Mohawks are drawn in Pool B with Shaunavon, Moose Jaw Vanier, Sturgis, and Saskatoon Christian, and open their tournament against Moose Jaw Vanier at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Nov. 24.
The top four teams in each pool move on to the quarterfinals where they are matched up with the top seed in each pool playing the bottom seed in the other pool, while the second seed in each pool plays the third seed in the other pool.
The tournament kicks off at 12:00 p.m. with La Loche taking on Melfort at Humboldt Public, and Saskatoon Christian taking on Shaunavon at Humboldt Collegiate.
