HUMBOLDT— Humboldt’s own pro wrestler, Davey Dysaster, is returning to the city to take on his arch-nemesis, the interim provincial champion Saturday Mike Fever.
“People can expect a lot of hardnosed, hard hitting, in your face type action,” Dyaster said. “It’s going to be a lot of chaos, a lot of energy and we’re going to put on a show people are never going to forget.”
Dysaster started training three years ago, after picking up a love for the sport through watching it with his family in Humboldt.
“Opportunity came and knocked,” he said.
“There’s a lot of cardio and a lot of practicing the techniques and stuff. There’s a lot more that goes into it than people think. It’s pretty hard on the body but it’s definitely worth it for sure.”
Dysaster said his personality is that of the hero that nobody expected to have.
“People look at me like they don’t want me to be their hero, but I am,” he said.
“He’s the kid that kind of always got overlooked. He’s the type of guy that got picked last, and got shown up a little – but now Davey Dysaster is taking over the world. He’s going to be everything that everyone wants to see, especially from Humboldt.”
Dysaster said there are two reasons people should come to the show. The first is that he’s from Humboldt, and the second is that Humboldt is where his heart is.
“I put a lot of passion and hard work into this wrestling business. I want to pay back all the love and support I’ve gotten from my friends and family in Humboldt... Show people exactly what all the love and dedication came to.”
With the support of Humboldt and being in his home court, Dysaster said he’s hoping to have the strength to take down Saturday Mike Fever and become the new interim provincial champion.
“I’m going to have the hometown, home crowd advantage and the people of Humboldt are going to help me hopefully take home the title this time.”
Live Pro Wrestling Featuring Humboldt's own Davey Dysaster will take place Saturday, Feb. 29 at the Humboldt Collegiate Institute Commons Area. Doors open 6 p.m. and the show starts 7 p.m. Tickets can be picked up at Shoppers Drug Mart in Humboldt or by calling 306-320-2319.
Other wrestlers that will be competing for the title include Logan Cross, Tyrone Ironside and Carter Adams.
“But the only one that matters is Davey Dysaster,” Dysaster said.
