Russell Batt, president of the Canadian Legion of Riders, presents Battlefords AAA Sharks captain Amanda Grainger with a cheque for $1,500. The donation was put towards the Sharks home white uniforms and is the second time in two years the Canadian Legion of Riders donated money to a local hockey team for uniforms. Last season, Batt made a donation to the Battlefords Midget Stars for new uniforms. The reason for the donation, Batt says, is that the Sharks volunteered for security at their annual Ride for a Vet rally in Meota July 24 and this is a way to give back to the community and thank those who sponsored and helped out with the event.

This year nearly 200 riders participated and around 1,500 attended the dance featuring Rosetta.

The club also focuses on marking those unmarked graves of veterans and makes other donation to organizations through the Northwest.
