The competitive outdoor archery season has come to an end and with hunting, school and other community sports the Landrie family still finds time to train for archery.

Bill Landrie, his wife Cindy and their children have developed a passion for competitive archery during the last three years and after winning dozen of medals to hang in their house they are ready to take things to the next level.

Bill captured a gold, silver and bronze medal this year at provincial and national events and hopes to train to be competitive with the best in the world next archery season. Bill's training can reach six hours a day and that dedication truly paid off as he won silver at the fita provincial shoot and bronze at the field national shoot this season. Bill also won gold at the 3D provincial shoot along with Cindy, their youngest son Lucas and daughter Jessica. Dalton earned silver a silver medal at that shoot.

Jessica earned three national bronze medals this summer to go along with two provincial golds, as she finished third in the 3D, fita and field national competitions. It was an amazing accomplishment for any archer, but for Jessica, who it appeared she may never fire a bow again, it was truly an amazing summer.

Jessica, who is in her senior year of high school and along with taking her Grade 12 classes is also upgrading some marks from last year, the reason for that is because in early 2011 Jessica had an allergic reaction, which turned into a serious and potentially life-threatening situation according to her parents.

Jessica was away from school for weeks and went months without archery practice, as her health was the most important focus in the Landrie's life at time. After a helpless feeling and many hours spent in the hospital, through the support of her friends, the community, the local archery club, and of course, her family she was nursed back to health. Jessica's slow recovery process eventually led her back to the archery range to train for the season's major events. Once she returned she was shooting like she had never set her bow down making a name for herself provincially and nationally.

Bill said he is proud of what the entire family did this season, but especially Jessica, who worked hard to get her strength back and had an amazing season after laying on what the family prayed wouldn't be her death bed.

Cindy, who Bill admits has almost accomplished everything she can at the level she is at, captured silver at 3D nationals to accompany her provincial gold medal this season.

Dalton, who also splits his archery training time with football practice during the week, won two other silver medals in the provincial field and fita shoots.

Lucas had a strong season adding gold medals in both the field and fita provincial competitions and earned silver at 3D nationals this year.

Erica, who like Dalton is a multi-sport athlete at North Battleford Comprehensive High School and may get back into the competitive archery shoots next season and join in what the family has truly embraced as more than just a hobby.

Cindy commented it is a real great experience when the entire family can go and participate in archery events together.

After all the time spent in the hospital this family is truly happy to be back where they discovered not so long ago they truly belong, on the archery range.
