Letter: Freedom to worship celebrated

Last Friday evening, the theme for "Cowboy Church" at Rabbit Lake was about Remembrance Day. We started by singing O Canada and ended with God Save the Queen.

Peg Haryung and Glen and Cathy Cherry sang some suitable songs and Kathy read In Flanders Fields. Pastor Rick Martin spoke about the three crosses on Calvary.

We were reminded of the wonderful freedoms we all enjoy, especially the freedom to worship. Jesus's suffering and death on the cross offers us freedom from sin and promise of heaven when we die (John 3:16). What could possible more important than that?

The early pioneers here worshipped in homes and schools until churches could be built. Today, I can count 13 churches within a 13-mile radius of Rabbit Lake that are all closed.

Rick is an accomplished singer and musician. He has served us every second Friday of the month for three years. His sermons are always Bible-based and full of stories and often humour.

He is a busy man, being pastor at Hope Church in Prince Albert and also conducting services in Battleford, Spritwood and Brancepeth. It is a different kind of worship. If you read this, why not come and check it out? You might like it.
