On Thursday, June 23, 2011, I was driving to Saskatoon for an appointment.
Between Bruno and the junction of Hwys. 5 and 2, approaching the crest of a hill, my automobile died. I pulled over, as best I could, to the side of the road, not knowing what was wrong.
Semi trailers, cars, vans, and trucks sped dangerously by me as I attempted to determine what was wrong on the side of a road with no shoulder and vehicles unable to spot me until they hit the top of the hill.
Suddenly, a white 4x4 truck backed up to me and a young man jumped out offering to help. Not only did I not seek help (however badly I needed it) but I was shy of accepting it. There was no time for pleasantries as traffic was heavy.
This young man not only figured out what was wrong (the car overheated and rings consequently burned out), he hitched my car up to his truck and towed me the 50 kilometers back to my property east of Humboldt.
About to depart, after I thanked him sincerely, answering he said his name was Mike and when I asked what he did, he said he was an RCMP officer. I want everyone to know how grateful I am to Mike, the RCMP officer in Humboldt. One of my kids is thinking of becoming an RCMP and I couldn't wish for anything better for my son.
As Mike left, I had to tell him that, little did he know, I didn't even have a single penny for a tow truck. God is good and Mike: thank you for responding.
