PRINCE ALBERT - One man has been arrested following an investigation by the Prince Albert Police Service Proactive Policing Unit (PPU) into multiple reports of flight from police incidents by the same suspect in early April.

On April 2, the Proactive Policing Unit began investigating incidents where the same vehicle evaded police numerous times in a 12- to 24-hour period.

It was also believed the suspect had evaded police on multiple other occasions in 2025.

Through their investigation, PPU officers were quickly able to identify a suspect in relation to these incidents who was found to have previous outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Later that same day, officers attended a residence in the 500 block of 22nd Street East where the suspect eventually surrendered and was arrested without further incident.

Also, while at the residence, officers located and seized the vehicle involved in the flight from police incidents.

After further investigation, officers were able to identify the suspect male was driving the vehicle at the time of the incidents.

As a result of this investigation, 19-year-old suspect has been charged with evading police, breaching his release order, and failure to comply with conditions of an undertaking.

He was also issued a ticket for driving while suspended which also resulted in a 30-day impound of the vehicle involved. He made his first court appearance on April 3.

“The work of our Proactive Policing Unit reflects the ongoing commitment of the Prince Albert Police Service to ensuring community safety through intelligence-led enforcement. Behind every arrest like this is a dedicated team of officers working diligently behind the scenes to identify repeat offenders and disrupt dangerous behaviour. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, our members have experienced 110 incidents involving suspects fleeing from police. This is not acceptable, and we will remain vigilant in our efforts to hold those who put our community at risk accountable. Proactive investigations like this one will continue until we see a sustained and measurable reduction in these types of offences,” said Chief Patrick Nogier in the news release.
