Suspect who threatened security guard with knife faces charges

Initial information indicated two males approached the security guard’s vehicle, striking its window.

PRINCE ALBERT - The Prince Albert Police Service has charged a 29-year-old man with assault with a weapon and uttering threats following a weapons complaint Thursday afternoon in the city.

On Jan. 2 at approximately 12:40 p.m., police were dispatched to the 900 block of Exhibition Drive after reports of a security guard being threatened.

Initial information indicated two males approached the security guard’s vehicle, striking its window.

Responding officers quickly located two suspects matching the description near 10th Avenue East and 8th Street East.

Both individuals were arrested without incident.

Upon searching one of the suspects, officers discovered a knife.

Further investigation revealed that one male had allegedly approached the victim’s vehicle, struck the window, and later produced a knife while threatening the victim.

The 29-year-old suspect now faces charges of assault with a weapon and uttering threats to cause death.

He appeared in provincial court Jan. 3.

The Prince Albert Police Service said in its release it "remains committed to responding swiftly to incidents involving weapons to ensure the safety of our community."
