Accused charged after student set on fire back in court

The accused is facing charges of attempted murder, unlawfully causing bodily harm, aggravated assault and arson.

SASKATOON - A 14-year-old girl accused of allegedly setting a fellow student on fire in a Saskatoon school was back in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Feb. 13.

The girl, accused of allegedly lighting another student on fire on Sept. 5, 2024, at Evan Hardy Collegiate, is facing charges of attempted murder, unlawfully causing bodily harm, aggravated assault and arson.

At court, the case was adjourned for a week.

Crown prosecutor Ainsley Furlonger confirmed to SaskToday in an email that the accused appeared in court via CCTV. Defence counsel put on the record the purpose of the adjournment was to obtain trial dates.

The accused is next set to appear in court on Feb. 21.
