SASKATOON - Environment and Climate Change Canada is calling for heavy snowfall and blowing snow starting around noon, with 5-10 cm expected in Saskatoon, along with freezing temperatures. Blowing snow and fresh accumulation may reduce visibility and make driving conditions more challenging.
The City of Saskatoon say its crews are prepared to respond and will focus on keeping roads safe. Twelve graders and eight plows will be available to clear streets, and 15 sander units will begin de-icing treatments on priority streets, starting with Circle Drive and expressways. Crews will continue working as long as the snow persists to manage road conditions. Additional contractor resources will be brought in once snow begins to accumulate above 5 cm.
Drivers are reminded that snow and freezing temperatures can make roads slick and unpredictable. Stay safe by adjusting to winter driving conditions: slow down, leave extra room between vehicles and plan for delays.
If you see snow-clearing equipment with blue and amber flashing lights, give them space to work effectively.
