SASKATOON - Three men are facing charges after patrol conducted a traffic stop early this morning in Saskatoon.

At approximately 1 a.m., March 12, patrol officers were travelling on Avenue P near Rusholme Road when they observed a vehicle stop in the middle of the road, prompting a traffic stop to check the driver’s sobriety. The driver exited the vehicle and quickly approached the officers, ignoring commands to remain inside. Three others also exited the vehicle, including a 20-year-old man who refused to comply with officers' directions to remove his hands from his pockets. When he attempted to flee, a conducted energy weapon was deployed but was unsuccessful. Following a brief physical altercation, he was taken into custody.

A 45-year-old man is charged with impaired driving and exceed .08. Two men, aged 20 and 32, are both charged with obstruction; the 20-year-old was also found to be breaching court-imposed conditions.

A woman was also arrested but released without charges.
