Youth struck by belt in weekend assault

At around 9 p.m. on March 8, police were called to the 300 block of Confederation Drive for a report of an assault-in-progress involving several youths.

SASKATOON - One male youth has been arrested following a weekend assault in Saskatoon.

At around 9 p.m. on March 8, police were called to the 300 block of Confederation Drive for a report of an assault-in-progress involving several youths. Upon arrival to the area, officers located the victim and observed several more youths nearby. Following the continued investigation, officers learned that the 17-year-old male victim had been struck with a belt by another youth. A person matching the suspect’s description was located and arrested a short time later; upon search of his person, police found a large knife and imitation firearm.

As a result, the 15-year-old male youth was charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace (x2), unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon (x2), possession of a weapon while prohibited (x2), assault, committing an indictable offence while masked, and failure to comply with court-imposed conditions.
