MACKLIN — In their first season with the Battle River Baseball League, the Macklin Senior Lakers, in second place in the standings, and the Macklin U18 Lakers, in seventh place, will open playoffs facing each other.
Opening playoff games are a best-of-three series set to start on July 3 with game two slated for July 5. If a third game is needed, it will be played on July 10. All first-round playoff games have a 7 p.m. opening pitch time.
“Our season went well,” Coach/Manager Derrick Lantz says.
“The guys seemed to be hitting the ball pretty good and our pitching was pretty decent. We didn’t know what to expect after joining the BRBL but it’s a great league with some good teams and lots of potential. Our fan support has always been good here in Macklin.”
Lantz adds that the Macklin Sr. Lakers are heading to provincial competition but as of right now are still waiting to hear where they go and what tier they will be ranked in once Baseball Sask. releases those details.
