Excitement surrounds Wilkie Minor Hockey season

After a 10-year absence, players and fans were excited to have a U18 team in Wilkie Outlaws jerseys once again

WILKIE โ€‘โ€‘ With teams in all divisions from U7 to U18, the Wilkie Minor Hockey season has 71 kids in the program. The addition of the U18 Wilkie Outlaws, after a 10-year absence, was exciting for the organization and fans alike.

The U13 and U18 teams are a combined team with Biggar players.

For the first time, WMH offered a Mighty Mites program that began Dec. 1 and included kids ages 3-5, having nine kids registered. A program like this is also exciting for the organization as it starts to get younger kids used to skating in equipment and developing a love for the game.

There was significant change on the minor hockey board, which presented challenges at the beginning of the season, but has now evolved into a smooth operation. Volunteers who sit on the executive as well as volunteer coaches and managers are the heart of the WMH organization and ensure a seamless season for all participants.

The WMH executive includes: president Rick Cey, vice-president Jared Herle, secretary Jill Thomson, treasurer Elise Brightman in addition to members Tamara Sander, Skye Braun, Jamie Coleman and Wade Bleier.
