Luseland Dust Devils win 11U Baseball Sask silver medal

Luseland Dust Devils returned home from 11U provincial championships with a silver medal for their efforts.

LUSELAND — In the third year of Luseland Minor Ball having an 11U team competing at provincial baseball, the Luseland Dust Devils capped off the 2023 season with a silver medal win. The community was heralding the team’s success following the final, many attesting to how nice it is to have great representation from teams based out of Luseland.

The team, based in Lusland, included players from Luseland, Dodsland and Kerrobert.

The team competed in provincials July 14-16 in Martensville. Team coaches are Lynn Cairns, Steve McMillan, Paige Feser, and Char Stabbler and the manager is Vicki Ostrowski. The team's roster included players:  Axel Stabbler, Cooper Feser, Walker Moro, Lane Suter, Ty Ostrowski, Emerson Summach, Carson Shepherd, Teagan Swan, Owen Cairns, Luke McMillan, Zane Phillips and Adam Fischer.

The Dust Devils played three round-robin games winning two of those putting them in second place. A win in the semifinals put them in the provincial final against Assiniboia, the only team they had lost to in this tournament.

Assiniboia proved to be a strong team and defeated Luseland 11-1, earning the Dust Devils a silver medal.

Luseland will have a 13U team competing in the Tier 6 provincial event held in Regina, and spokesman Bob Prieston said it is the first year for the Luseland Minor Ball to have a team in that age group. The team also combines players from Luseland, Kerrobert and Dodsland.
