Many changes within Wilkie Town Office

Staffing changes within Town of Wilkie office, building a stronger team for residents.

Happy Canada Day to all. I hope everyone will get a chance to relax and enjoy their summer break.

This spring has been a real blur in the Wilkie Town office, filled with significant changes and new beginnings. We were fortunate to have Sandra Beckett come out of retirement to step into the assistant administrator position to cover a maternity leave.

Additionally, Michele Schmidt has been invaluable as a temporary administrator and we are excited to have Michele’s mentor, Rebecca Parent become our new administrator. We also welcomed Sheila Sinclair, our new secretary with over a decade of experience, who is sure to be a great asset to our team. I guess one other addition to staffing, we secured a contract with Brayden Voll, our new bylaw officer, which will hopefully take some pressure off our staff.

Public works has also been busy dealing with major repair to the water treatment plant and flow issues at the swimming pool, not to mention the challenge of keeping up with grass cutting between rains.

It has been a busy time so far in our community and we’re looking forward to awarding the contract of a new pool soon.

My last point is we are planning to implement a green bin program this fall with the elimination of back yard pick-up and keeping in mind there will be plenty of education for residents to help make the transition seamless.

Enjoy your summer!
