UNITY — The Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association held their provincial track and field meet in Saskatoon June 2 and 3.
Unity Composite High School track and field team sent 11 athletes to the event, after earning places at district championships.
"The majority of the team had never been to a provincial track meet and it proved to be a great experience for all,” says Coach Michelle Van De Meutter.
"There were a few personal bests and a few that were a little disappointed in their results. However, the athletes got to see some amazing things happen by athletes from other schools and draw inspiration from these experiences."
UCHS had one provincial medal winner as Casey Lewin captured silver in discus. There were three top ten finishes in the province for UCHS athletes including Camara Brown earning sixth in long jump, Molly Orobko earning seventh spot in discus and Dawson Gilbert placing top eight in the province in hurdles.
Casey Lewin, in addition to her provincial medal, also competed in intermediate girls’ 100m, earning 14th, intermediate girls’ long jump, earning 15th and intermediate girls’ 4 x 100 relay, earning fourth spot.
