St. Peter's School was able to see a wheelchair accessible swing installed on June 21, giving students the opportunity to take it for a "swing" before school is out for the summer.

UNITY – A section of the playground at the St. Peter’s school was off limits so a crew could install the newly purchased wheelchair accessible swing.

Deanna Emond, principal for the school, said the amount of support that showed up for the project was outstanding.

“Our school is so grateful for the level of support that was shown in the fundraising efforts,” she said.

The school started fundraising in October 2023, with funds being donated by the Delta Co-op, the Catholic Women’s League, Unity Credit Union, Unity Motor Products, Knights of Columbus Council #5707, Knights of Columbus Foundation and an anonymous donor.

The school had also applied for various grants and received money from Telemiracle, Access Education, Light of Christ Catholic School Division and the School Community Council.
