SuperVolley 2022 hosted by McLurg High School

Teamwork makes the dream work as high school volleyball season begins.

WILKIE — A whopping 20 teams of high school volleyball players arrived in Wilkie Sept. 9 for the two-day McLurg SuperVolley2022 tournament held at the Saskcan Community Centre arena.

The McLurg High School boys’ team hosted their counterparts from Medstead, Lashburn, Langham, Maidstone, St. Walburg, Unity and Outlook’s LCBI.

While the Wilkie hosts were courteous and hospitable off the court, the Broncs showed no mercy on the courts, winning their way to the gold medal match and claiming that game as well.

St, Walburg had to settle for silver medals and the Unity boys beat Maidstone to take the bronze medals.

On the girls’ side, McLurg had both their senior A and B teams participating, along with teams from Unity, Plenty, Meadow Lake, Bruno, Medstead, Kerrobert, Edam, Maidstone and Nipawin.

The Unity Warriors and Nipawin Bears played for gold, with the Bears prevailing and the Unity team taking home the silver medals.

The hosts did keep some of girls’ medals at home with the A Broncs defeating Plenty in the bronze medal match.

Another SuperVolley event will be hosted by McLurg Sept. 16-17 when the junior boys and girls will compete, each having an eight-team draw.
