Tralapa Summer Festival organizers work to return to pre-COVID event numbers

Festival was held June 23 and 24 at Tramping Lake Regional Park.

TRAMPING LAKE — The sixth annual Tralapa Music and Sports Festival has created more memories for those who attended, although event organizers say they will continue to seek ways to rebuild to pre-COVID attendance numbers.

The festival was held June 23 and 24 at Tramping Lake Regional Park.

“Numbers were low again this year but we have a plan to ramp up our marketing for next year so we can get back to the pre COVID numbers,” says Ryan Neumeier, president/director and Park Ranger says.

Neumeier adds a positive part of their annual summer event, saying, “Dodsland won the ‘Applause for a Cause’ with a decibel reading of 104.9. The donation amount will be determined at their year-end meeting.”

Tralapa Rangers initiated this charitable component of their event to give back to communities for their support of the summer festival. Audience members, at one point in the program, are encouraged to applaud as loud as possible to win the contest and thus earn funds for a community charity. In the past five years, Tralapa has raised more than $5,000 for varying community charities through this initiative.

Neumeier said a special presentation was made during the weekend’s stage events. The mini golf course has now been named “Keith & Doreen Charteris Memorial Golf Course” and the Rangers installed a beautiful sign for anyone who visits the park to see. Keith and Doreen, now both passed away, were fundamental contributors to Tramping Lake Park.

“Weather was perfect, everyone who showed up had a great time and we look forward to building another great event for next year.”

One performing group, Rock Candy, was enthusiastic about their experience.

“We had an absolutely amazing time at Tralapa Music & Sports Festival on Saturday night,” Rock Candy posts.

“The rangers do an excellent job every year of putting together one of the finest weekends you can enjoy in Saskatchewan. The lake is beautiful, the audience was so engaging and fun, and the other acts and talent were amazing. Very well organized, highly recommend.”

Maz Entertainment says, “We have always heard about how great Tralapa Music & Sports Festival was but getting to finally experience it was unforgettable. These rangers put in so much time and effort to put on an incredible weekend of sport and entertainment from such a diverse range of bands and DJs. If you have yet to experience Tralapa you are missing out. Keep your eyes peeled for next year’s date.”
