Two UCHS golfers qualify for SHSAA provincials

SHSAA high school sports season is in full swing with two UCHS golfers the first to qualify for provincial competition.

JACKFISH LAKE — Battle West District golf championships took place Sept. 13 at Jackfish Lake Golf Club and delivered a day of expected, varying fall weather.

Unity Composite High School had four male golfers competing that included Thomas Snell, Grade 12; Layne Parker, Grade 12; Ethan Stifter, Grade 10; and Nash Sperle, Grade 10. Golfers are coached by Kyla Snell.

The top four golfers would advance to Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association provincial championships upcoming Sept. 23-24, also at the Jackfish Lake Golf Club.

The top four results included a gold medal won by North Battleford Composite High School, along with a fourth place finish. Two UCHS golfers have also qualified in top four with Thomas Snell winning a silver medal, shooting an 86, while Nash Sperle won a bronze medal with a score of 88.
