UNITY — As of June 12, the Standard Hill Lakers were bumped out of top spot in the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League standings by the Meadow Lake Sox, who sit undefeated at 5-0 after a two-win weekend, including a win over the Unity Cardinals.
The Unity Cardinals, as of June 12, are in fifth spot with a record of 1-2-1. They have one rain-out makeup game to complete with Lloydminster with the team’s next game on home diamonds June 15, playing Lloydminster Twins. The Cards have eight games, plus a makeup game to complete their season and will finish on the road July 6 in North Battleford.

Cardinals game action is free to attend and includes an entirely local roster of players, including veterans Rob Cey, Alex David, Braden Poleri and Cory Wildeman. The team is infused with youth, with many graduating from the junior division last year, including Adam Duhaime, three brother duos — Andrew and Thomas Feser, Ethan and Garrin Scherr and Luke and Hunter Sperle. The team’s roster is rounded out by Colby Frocklage, Brandon Griffiths, Jaden Hofmann, Tanner Huber, Skyler Mackie, Denim O’Donnell, Colby Ralston and Blaise Weber.
