Unity Minor Hockey has unveiled a new online registration and arena schedule program.

UNITY - Normally, hockey registration in Unity would involve in person registration wherein people had the opportunity to meet their executive as well as present questions about the program.

“Unity Minor Hockey decided that changing to an online platform during these 'COVID times,' made sense," says Katherine McCrea of UMH. " Of course, it really pulls away from the face-to-face, small-town comradery, but we hope to all catch up at the rink during the season.”

The online platform has allowed different forms of payment as well as the ease of registration for those who live out of town. UMH says the company League Apps is based out of New York and has been exceptional to work with.

“The learning curve was huge but will be well worth it for our hockey families. League Apps is a program for those who are registered as a hockey family with Unity Minor Hockey, and those who participate in our fall 3-on-3.”

Unfortunately, this isn't an open platform for all residents of Unity and surrounding areas, but UMH says they have been working hard to keep the Facebook Group 'Unity Minor Hockey' up-to-date.

Along with the registration platform, came a new and improved website. www.leagueapps.com/unityminorhockey

“Our goal is to keep our site fresh and easy to navigate. We currently have a few different links which will take you to our town ice schedule, our Unity Miners and Unity Minor Hockey, Facebook pages. We also have a new email address to use as a way to contact us directly at [email protected].”

Presently UMH has information circulated in the local paper, on their website and on their social media announcing the CIS Women’s hockey exhibition game being played in Unity on Oct. 2, featuring the U of S Huskies. This event also includes a female minicamp to registered participants.

With 3-on-3 hockey underway, more and more people are getting to see the new look inside the arena as part of the summer of renovations on both interior and exterior.

Masks are mandatory at the rink and as of Oct. 1, attendees at the rink for ticketed sporting events will require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 24 hours of the event.
