UNITY ‑ Regular season hockey is coming to a close and provincial action has begun, with league playoffs also nearing.

The U18 Lazers opened their provincial playoffs against Clavet Cougars at home Jan. 23 however they were unable to overcome a strong visiting team and they will head to Clavet with a significant goal deficit for Game 2 Feb. 13.
The U15 Lazers will start their provincial quest playing host to the Shellbrook Elks Jan. 25
The U15 Outlaws will start their provincial playoffs against Waldheim Jan. 27 at home.
In the SWHL, teams are jockeying for position before league playoffs begin in early February with all teams advancing and quarter-finals beginning with first place playing eighth, second playing seventh and so on.
The last games of the regular season take place Jan. 28 to 30 and include Wilkie, Kerrobert and Macklin wrapping up. Unity Miners played their last regular season game Jan. 22, and they now sit in sixth spot in the league. The Wilkie Outlaws remain in top spot with only one loss, while Macklin is a close second.
Wilkie’s Brock Harrison and Rory Gregoire continue to lead the scoring stats for the SWHL, sitting in the one, two positions.
All teams in the SWHL will also be part of provincial playoff action, excluding the Unity Miners who chose not to enter this season.
The West Central Wheat Kings U18 AA team will finish off their regular season Feb. 13. Round one of playoffs begin Feb. 14 and the Wheaties are currently sitting in fifth spot, with the top eight teams advancing. After Jan. 30 weekend, the WK have their last three regular season games in February, playing the North West Stars Feb. 13, who are currently sitting just behind them in the standings.
Hunter Sperle and Austin Shepherd continue to lead the team in scoring.
