WILKIE – With the 2024 soccer season approaching, organizer Ryan Kobelsky is looking for some extra manpower on the pitch.
The soccer club has been active for at least 20 years in Wilkie. Kobelsky, who played the game in high school, stepped up to lead the club in 2019. This he’s looking for additional help to get the soccer season started.
Kobelsky took to social media, explaining that he would still be able to do some of the behind-the-scenes work for the soccer club but was looking for people to volunteer their time to organize the rest.
Since his social media post, he had a few people reach out with no follow-through at this time.
“We currently have three people running the club. We struggle to find coaches each year. Last year I took on the U9/11 and U7 teams and it was quite difficult to balance,” said Kobelsky.
The club sees on average 70 kids play soccer, ranging from the tots’ program up to the U9/11 team.
“We had a U9/11, U7 and U5 team least season, and the tots’ program is for kids under the age of four.
“The kids are fantastic to work with and it's usually a ton of fun. Kids always work hard, win or lose,” he added.
Kobelsky adds that if anyone is interested in being a coach, to please contact him.
