Darlene Carol Dobson (née: Loster) aged 80 years of Moose Jaw, SK, was born on July 10th, 1944, and passed away on Tuesday, December 17th, 2024. Darlene was born in Moosomin, SK but raised her family and spent most of her adult life residing in Moose Jaw. 

Darlene was a care provider, both for her family and in her career, first as a licensed practical nurse and then as an early childhood educator, operating a family childcare home and transitioning to be the director of a childcare centre. She also spent many years as a girl guide leader, inspiring and supporting many young girls in Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders.  

Darlene enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, painting and other crafts. In her last years, she became a Moose Jaw Warriors hockey fan. She loved and was very proud of her family and will be missed.  

She was predeceased by her parents, Helen Parfitt (née: Plummer), and Rudy Loster; husbands, Ted Dobson (January 1996) and Don Calfas (October 2005); sister Marilynn Orr; and grandson, Jared. Darlene is survived by her children: Mark Dobson (Tracey), Darrell Dobson (Trish), and Debbie Thompson (Greg); grandchildren: Morgan Dobson, Brett Dobson (Paige), Jacob Dobson, Ethan Dobson, Katherine Thompson, Andrew Thompson (Rachel Lamoureux), and Cody Thompson; as well as great-grandchildren: Theo Dobson, Ava Thompson, Kenza Thompson-Lamoureux, and Shalimar Thompson-Lamoureux. She is also greatly missed by special friend, Daryl Walker.  

A Celebration of Darlene’s Life will be held on Friday, December 27th, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Celebrant Dave Foley officiating. As an expression of sympathy, donation in Darlene’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Box 2414, Toronto, ON M4P 1E4.
