Zelda Lois Johnson (née Anderson)
Zelda Johnson passed away peacefully on April 5th, 2025, at Moose Jaw Special Care Home, at the age of 79.
Zelda was born on June 9th, 1945, in Tisdale, Saskatchewan to Gladys and Alfred Anderson.
Zelda grew up in Weyburn and graduated high school from Weyburn Collegiate. She went on to study Secretarial studies at Saskatchewan Technical Institute (now Saskatchewan Polytechnic) in Moose Jaw. While there, she met the love of her life, Ronald Johnson, whom she married on August 7, 1967.
Zelda and Ron went on to have two daughters and raised them in Moose Jaw while founding and running their business - Keon Garden Centre. Many Moose Javian’s will remember Zelda working in the greenhouses, watering the plants and flowers in the 1980s and ‘90’s. She was a kind, quiet and sweet soul who loved her family.
Zelda loved gardening, birdwatching, sewing, canning foods, baking and reading. She especially loved music and spending summers at their cottage at Buffalo Pound Lake.
At the young age of 45, Zelda suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm, requiring surgery. Although the surgery was successful, her recovery was long, and she began suffering the effects of dementia in her mid-50’s. Her husband Ron cared for her at home for the next ten years until her physical needs became too great, at which time she moved to her final home at Moose Jaw Extendicare (now Moose Jaw Special Care Home) in the fall of 2012. She was loved by the nurses and caregivers there and was treated like a treasured family member.
Zelda is survived by her beloved husband Ron, her two daughters Stacy (Ron) Pelletier, Stephanie (Marty) Skrudland, grandchildren Justin, Sarah, and Joshua (Stacy), sister Heather Proulx, and many nieces and nephews.
