Lorne passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024, after an extended stay at Regina General Hospital.
Lorne spent the majority of his 79 years in Carlyle, Saskatchewan, where he will be remembered for many things. As a young man, he was a renowned hockey and baseball player, patrolling the wing and second base for successful Carlyle Cougar and Carlyle Laker squads. He then had two children, Clayton Scott and Stephanie Bette (1981-1986), and spent the next several years tending to customers at Carlyle Auto Parts. After a stint in Mankota, Saskatchewan, Lorne returned to Carlyle and became a valuable part of the Home Hardware team for over a decade.
Lorne was blessed to have a sweet, determined mother, five witty and mischievous brothers and a gaggle of nieces and nephews. He is survived by his son, brothers Gordon and Don, sisters-in-law Christie, Jane and Helen and all those nieces and nephews he so enjoyed spending time with and hearing about.
Even though Lorne suffered the loss of a child, and became reclusive in his later years, he was no stranger to love, laughter or joy. He shared these things with friends, family and passing acquaintances for almost 80 years. His final days were spent in relative comfort with his son at his bedside.
A memorial will be held for Lorne in Carlyle in 2025. Those interested in attending are encouraged to contact [email protected] for future details.
