Following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, Marvin Dale Wentzell, formerly of Yorkton, SK passed away in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the age of 92 years.

Marvin was born in 1932, on the south shore of Nova Scotia in Milton. Following graduation, he spent time in the Canadian Armed Forces and then went on to do an Arts and Science Degree at Acadia University and a Law Degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax. Following graduation, Marvin relocated to Regina, SK and completed his articles. He went on to practice law in Yorkton, SK, primarily as a sole practitioner for over thirty years, 1963 - 1999.

Following his retirement, he and Louise moved to Kelowna for 17 years and in 2017, they relocated to Medicine Hat. Marvin was very active in the Yorkton community and dedicated countless hours to local clubs, charities as well as serving on several boards including the Jaycee’s, Lion’s Club (V.P), Shriners and the Masons as well as served on City Council for three terms, the Board of St. Andrew’s United Church and the Yorkton School Division. He received his King’s Counsel designation in 1982 and in 1998, was awarded the Provincial Community Service Award by the Canadian Bar Association.

Along with his wife of 52 years, Louise, Marvin leaves to honour his memory his daughter, Leah (Daryl) Schatz; son, Dwight (Cindy) Wentzell; step-daughters, Liz (Stan) Weston, Marilyn Luebbe and Sandra Luebbe (Phil Merrill); grandchildren, Britni (Prince), Talia (George), Maddisen, Shane (Amanda), Mikaela (Sean), Nolan, Morgan, and Ian; seven great-grandchildren; nephew, Peter Wentzell as well as his nieces, Karla Mitton and Kendra Wentzell.
