REGINA — Gone fishing conjures up images of rest, relaxation and fun at Saskatchewan lakes.

Saskatchewan's summer Free Fishing Weekend is back on July 13-14, and it's the perfect time for Saskatchewan residents and visitors alike to drop a line and give angling a try, no licence required.

During the weekend, anglers can fish without a licence on any public waters open to sport fishing. Important things to remember: Free Fishing Weekend does not apply in national parks, anyone planning on taking fish out of the province must purchase a licence and all other fishing regulations, including limits, still apply. For more information, visit: www.saskatchewan.ca/fishing

Free Fishing Weekend began in the summer of 1989 to increase public awareness about the diverse angling opportunities in the province. A winter Free Fishing Weekend was added in 2015. More than 250,000 people sport fish in Saskatchewan each year.
