REGINA - Saskatchewan United Party leader Jon Hromek has resigned.

In a news release the party announced Hromek not only has departed the leadership, but is ending his involvement in the party as well. In a statement Dwight Bunyan, party president, said the following:

"The Sask United Party would like to announce that Jon Hromek has resigned as leader and will no longer be moving forward with the party.

"On behalf of everyone at Sask United, I would like to thank Jon for all of his efforts in building Sask United and his commitment to the people of Saskatchewan. His leadership and vision will have a lasting impact on this party and the province."

A statement from Hromek was also released, in which he confirmed he is leaving.

"Today, I am announcing my resignation as the leader of the Sask United Party and my decision to step away from the party altogether. This decision was not made lightly. I have spent countless hours listening to you—at town halls, on doorsteps, and in the streets. Your voices, your stories, and your hopes for our province have inspired me deeply. It has been an honor to stand alongside you in the fight for a better Saskatchewan.

"...  While I may be stepping down as your leader, I want to emphasize that the future of this province is in the hands of the people. It is you who will carry the torch for change. It is your passion, your dedication, and your vision that will guide Saskatchewan forward.

"This is not the end, it is merely a new beginning. I am hopeful because I believe in the power of the Saskatchewan spirit. I believe in our ability to innovate, to collaborate, and to rise to any challenge. Together, we can build a province that reflects our values and aspirations."

Hromek had only been the leader since May when he took over from Saskatchewan Rivers MLA Nadine Wilson. Sask United ended up winning no seats in the 2024 provincial election, with Hromek running in third place in Lumsden-Morse.

There is no word yet from the party about their plans to replace Hromek.
