Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck, seen speaking on her party’s pledge to suspend the gas tax, is set to be nominated to run again next week.

REGINA - NDP Leader Carla Beck will be officially nominated in Regina Lakeview next week in what is billed as a "giant" campaign event.

The event, held at the Italian Club in Regina starting at 7 p.m. Sept. 25, is meant to kick off the 2024 provincial campaign for the NDP, according to the party’s website. While it is a nomination meeting that is being called to name Beck as the NDP candidate in Regina Lakeview, the event looks to be more of a rally.

A 56-seat bus is being chartered to transport people from Saskatoon for the event, according to the NDP's website. The party says that the event will feature candidates and MLAs.

The event is being held as speculation grows that Premier Scott Moe will soon call the 2024 provincial election, with a set date of Oct. 28 as per the provincial legislation.

Beck has held Regina Lakeview since 2016 and it is widely considered a safe NDP riding. While it was always expected she would run there again, the nomination meeting will make that official.
