REGINA - Leona Quewezance and five of her coworkers are celebrating a $100,000 Extra win. The group, which includes Quewezance, Sachin Shrestha, Cheri Deegan, Carolyn Pelletier and Joseph Bear, won their prize on the Sept. 20 EXTRA draw.
Shrestha checked the group’s ticket a couple days after the draw.
“I was just shaking when I saw all of the zeroes,” he said. “I double-checked on the app, and then triple-checked on the app and checked the numbers manually to make sure. I couldn’t believe it!”
The group has a few different ideas for their respective $20,000 shares: Deegan is going to buy a new couch and sewing machine; Pelletier said she will pay some bills; Sachin hopes to put his winnings toward his daughter’s education; Quewezance is looking forward to a trip to Spain and sharing the remainder with her family; and Bear plans to save his share of the windfall.
Quewezance said the group has been playing Lotto 6/49 together for years, which makes this win even more special.
“It feels really good to share this prize with this group,” she said. “I think we’re all really going to enjoy it!”
Shrestha purchased the group’s winning Lotto 6/49 and Extra ticket from the Sherwood Co-op Grasslands located at 4705 Gordon Rd. in Regina. They won their prize by matching the last six digits of the Extra number– 1694378.
