REGINA - Rhonda Envik made an important choice while grocery shopping: buy a carton of milk or a Western Max ticket before the lottery kiosk closed. Envik chose to buy a Western Max ticket and is celebrating a $100,000 Extra win with her husband Brent Sparks.
“I was in the check-out line and realized I forgot to grab milk,” she laughed. “I went back and forth on what to do… I’m glad I went with the lottery ticket!”
The winner said it took a while for her to believe she won such a large prize.
“I couldn’t believe it, definitely not at first,” she said. “I had to check the ticket a few times before it started to sink in.”
Envik said she and Sparks have one big plan for their windfall.
“We’re going to finish renovating our basement,” she said. “That was our winter plan anyway, but now we can finish it and have some savings in the bank.”
“Mostly, this will give us a little more security,” she continued. “And that makes such a big difference.”
Envik bought the winning Western Max and Extra ticket at the LY Lottery Kiosk inside the Real Canadian Superstore at 4450 Rochdale Blvd. in Regina. They won their prize by matching the last six digits of the Extra number drawn on August 22 – 5964323.
