REGINA – A man accused of attempted murder has multiple charges against him after a youth was sent to hospital with serious injuries.
At approximately 1:50 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Pasqua Street for the report of a weapons offence involving a firearm. Initial information indicated a male suspect shot the victim with what appeared to be a gun before fleeing the scene.
Upon arrival, police located one injured youth who was attended to by EMS and transported to hospital with serious injuries. A short while later, police located an adult male matching the description on the 1500 block of Pasqua Street. A search revealed a pistol. The male was arrested without incident.
As a result of this investigation, 21-year-old Ashton Wesaquate, of Regina, is charged with:
- 3x attempted murder
- discharge of a restricted firearm;
- possession of a weapon;
- 3x pointing a firearm;
- possession of a firearm knowing its unauthorized;
- possession of an unauthorized weapon;
- possession of a loaded firearm;
- careless use of a firearm;
- failure to comply with conditions; and
- possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order.
The accused made their first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court March 31.
