REGINA - Regina Police Service (RPS) launched a targeted safety initiative in the Albert Park neighbourhood for Wednesday as part of its All Out Progressive Policing Initiatives: Engagement and Enforcement.

The operation will concentrate on the south Albert Street and Gordon Road area, responding to concerns raised in the 2023 Community Perceptions Survey, which called for greater police visibility and action on alcohol- and drug-related issues.

“We ask for the community’s support and cooperation as we roll out this initiative,” said Les Parker, public information and strategic communication for RPS, in a media release on April 23. “You can expect to see an increased police presence in these neighbourhoods, with officers engaging with residents and business owners. Our goal is to create a safer environment and build stronger relationships within our community. Together, we can make a significant impact on public safety."

The initiative uses a rotating neighbourhood strategy, with officers conducting targeted deployments in high-priority zones identified through crime analysis. RPS emphasizes a dual approach—combining enforcement with community engagement to foster trust and collaboration.

The Safe Neighbourhood Camera Registry: Officers will be promoting this voluntary and free program which allows participants the opportunity to assist police by letting them know if they have security cameras, expediting investigations
