RPS make arrest in self-inflicted shooting

The incident occurred on Tuesday when police were called to the 1900 block of Hamilton Street.

A male was arrested after shooting himself with a firearm.

REGINA- Police have arrested a man in relation to a self-inflicted shooting incident.

On Tuesday, March 25, police were called to the 1900 block of Hamilton Street at around 10:20 a.m. for a report of a firearms offence.

Information given said a male had been shot with a firearm. Police and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived on scene. RPS located a firearm near the scene while the male was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Further investigation led police to discover the injuries came from an accidental discharge of the weapon. The male was also found to carry bear spray.

Along with the man, a 16-year-old female was also arrested for possession of bear spray.

This has led to the arrest of James Patrick Albert Blacksioux, who is charged with:

As a result, 26 year-old James Patrick Albert Blacksioux of Regina, is charged with:

  •       Careless Use of a Firearm 
  •        Possession of a Weapon 
  •       Carry Concealed Weapon 
  •      Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession 

The 16-year-old, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act was charged with:

  •   Carry Concealed Weapon 

Blacksioux will make an appearance in the Provincial Court on May 1, 2025, while the youth will appear in Provincial Youth Court on the same day.
