Woman pushed to the ground in altercation at city bus

At approximately 9:30 p.m., March 20, police were called to the 200 block of 3rd Avenue North.  It had been reported that an assault had occurred.

SASKATOON - A 32-year-old man is facing charges following an assault on a City of Saskatoon Transit Bus.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., March 20, police were called to the 200 block of 3rd Avenue North. It had been reported that an assault had occurred. 

Upon arrival officers were able to locate and arrest the male suspect after a short foot pursuit. A 50-year-old female victim reported that the suspect attempted to board a locked bus by attempting to force the door open. When the woman attempted to intervene, she was pushed to the ground in a physical altercation. The altercation continued on board the bus when the man began being verbally aggressive with patrons. He then fled the scene as police were arriving.  

The female victim suffered minor physical injuries.  

The man is charged with assault, obstructing a police officer and causing a disturbance. He was released on an undertaking with a court appearance scheduled for April 30.
